Title ProperApplication of a projection theorem to the geometry of least squares
Other Title InformationDept. of Economics, Univ. of Pittsburgh, Working Paper No. 54, January 1977
LanguageENG
AuthorWichers, C. Robert
Summary / Abstract (Note)This paper combines two ingredients, neither of which is new. One is a theorem on orthogonal projection and the other is a geometric representation of least-squares regression. Combining least-squares geometry with the projection theorem ameliorates both; conclusions become intuitively obvious and proofs are shortened.
