Summary/Abstract |
The present paper illustrates the need for multiple histories of nationalism and colonialism by tracing the trajectory of events sparked off by the proselytizing efforts of the Protestant Church among the Shanars of South Travencore during the 19th century and the founding of a popular Hindu religious cult - the Vaikunda Swamy cult - as a result of this process.
