| Summary/Abstract |
The trend of urban development in the country brought in its wake a gradual transformation of the hitherto agricultural land into non-agricultural, residential, industrial, public utility and commercial uses. In the state of Uttar Pradesh, such diversion of agricultural land has been reported in a few districts of Western, Eastern and Central regions which has resulted in a considerable decrease in the sown area on an average.
