Summary/Abstract Medical examination of a sample of Philippine farmers found a significant proportion suffering chronic health effects attributable to pesticide use. Farmer health costs are positively associated with total pesticide use, the hazard category of pesticides used and unsafe handling procedures. Relatively lower labor productivity can be expected of effected farmers.
