During 1982-84, the value of U.S. producers' shipments of floating structures declines by 50.6%. The value of apparent U.S. consumption decreased by 16.8%. A large part of the decrease in consumption and producers' shipments can be attributed to the depressed conditions of the offshore oil industry.
