Summary/Abstract Directorate of Public Health Engineering (DPHE) has the mandate to supply safe drinking water in both rural and urban areas. Tubewells it supplies are procured from both Govt and UNICEF fund. The study was undertaken to assess DPHE's performance under purely Govt funded water supply installation program and compare it with the long established DPHE-UNICEF program.
