Summary / Abstract (Note)This study investigates the EC's potential to mitigate instability in world grain markets and to stabilize the food import bill of the ACP countries. The paper analyses past performance, and the determinants of EC grain stockholding and the timing of EC grain exports. It also investigates the potential role of an extended STABEX system for stabilizing the food import bill of ACP countries.
