Summary / Abstract (Note)Within the past decade an increasing amount of research effort has been devoted to the application of production theory to educational institutions. Just as private firms combine raw materials, labor and capital to produce outputs, schools combine the "raw materials" of a student's background with school inputs to produce educational outputs such as cognitive achievement.
